Why “Viami”?

A road, and a companion

via — the road · ami — the friend. Our mark is the letter V drawn as a single path that dips before it rises, the way early parenthood actually feels. On that line walk two footsteps: a larger one for you, and a smaller one — slightly off the path, the way children skip — for them.

The same path runs through the whole app: it’s how you choose your child’s stage on day one, and how you look back on every chapter after.

Pregnancy to school

The right tools surface at the right time

No 40-feature dashboard. Viami knows where your child is on the journey and quietly reshapes the home screen around it — what you need appears, what you’re done with steps back.

What it does

Gentle by design

Viami is built against anxiety, not for engagement: no streaks, no badges, no comparison feeds. One quiet home screen and a small set of tools that earn their place.

Two-tap logging

Feeds, sleep, nappies, solids, symptoms — logged before the moment passes. Works offline; syncs when you’re back.

Sleep timer · undo on everything
Guidance that knows your child

Ask anything — answers grounded in your child’s own pattern, not a generic forum thread. Safety guardrails route real red flags straight to “see a doctor”.

Nap prediction (0–36 months) · sleep analysis
NZ childcare money, demystified

FamilyBoost, Childcare Subsidy and 20 Hours ECE — what you qualify for, what they stack to, and what your real weekly cost is.

Connect your village

Link your centre for daily updates, learning stories, attendance and policy sign-offs. Search every licensed ECE service in NZ — straight from the Ministry’s directory.

Midwife, GP and school connections on the roadmap
The whole family, properly

Grandparents who help on Tuesdays, co-parents in two homes, a babysitter for one weekend — five roles with real permissions, not one shared password.

Separated parents: symmetric care, private finances
Nothing important gets lost

Every reminder — immunisations, enrolment windows, FamilyBoost deadlines — lands in your Inbox as well as your notifications. Mute your phone without missing your life.

Quiet hours by default, 9pm–7am
Real money, plain English

Most NZ families leave childcare money on the table

Government childcare support is real money, with rules not written for tired parents. Viami tracks the rules so you don’t have to — and tells you exactly what applies to your family, and what it stacks to.

40%
FamilyBoost

Up to $1,560 back per quarter on ECE fees. Viami checks your eligibility, tracks invoices and reminds you before every claim deadline.

Privacy isn’t a feature

It’s the architecture

This is data about a child. We designed Viami as if the Privacy Commissioner were on the team — because one day, your child gets to read what was kept about them.

No ads. No data selling. Ever.

Viami makes money from optional premium tools — never from your family’s information.

Linking ≠ sharing

Connecting a centre moves zero data until both sides verify and you confirm — explicitly, child by child.

Your data, your exit

Export everything as PDF/CSV anytime. Delete a child’s data and it cascades — logs, links, analytics, gone.

Analytics you can switch off

We measure behaviour patterns, never content — and you can opt out entirely in one tap.

NZ Privacy Act, by design

Built for the 2026 rules including IPP3A: if information about you arrives indirectly, you’re told, with a permanent record.

Start without an account

Try everything as a guest. Your data stays on your phone until you choose to create an account — nothing is lost when you do.

Early words

From families in the beta

“The 3am feed used to come with doomscrolling. Now I log it in two taps and the app tells me when the next nap window opens. That’s it. That’s the whole interaction.”

Hannah · Auckland · newborn

“We found out we’d been missing FamilyBoost for two quarters. Viami paid for itself before it cost us anything — it’s free.”

Sam & Tor · Wellington · 2yo + 4yo

“My parents do Thursdays. They see the nap log and the pickup notes, and nothing else. That’s exactly the amount of app my dad can handle.”

Priya · Christchurch · toddler
Questions

FAQ

Is Viami free?+
Yes — logging, reminders, the journey, and every government-money tool are free. Optional premium tools may come later, but our pledge stands: entitlement help, safety reminders and your own data are never paywalled.
Do I need an account to try it?+
No. Tap “Start now — sign up later” and everything works with data kept on your phone. When you create an account (Apple, Google, or a passwordless email link), your records come with you — nothing is lost.
Which ages does it cover?+
Pregnancy through to starting school (and a little beyond, for after-school interests). The app reshapes itself around your child’s stage — you’ll never see toddler tools during night feeds.
Is it only for New Zealand?+
The care tools work anywhere, but Viami is built for Aotearoa: NZ immunisation schedule, NZ growth charts, the Ministry’s ECE directory, FamilyBoost, Childcare Subsidy and 20 Hours ECE. That depth is the point.
Can grandparents and co-parents join?+
Yes — five roles (Primary carer, Co-parent, Co-guardian, Caregiver, Viewer) with real permissions. Separated parents get symmetric care views with strictly private household finances.
What happens to our data if we leave?+
Export everything in open formats, then delete. Deletion cascades through logs, connections and analytics. We keep nothing we’d be embarrassed to explain to you — or to your child in eighteen years.

Walk it together

The road dips before it rises. Put gentle tools in your pocket for the whole of it — pregnancy to the school gate.
